Tom Hardy Reveals How Acting Has Impacted His Life: "Unfortunately, It Doesn't Get Any Better"

The star of such blockbusters as "Venom", "Capone" and "Mad Max: Fury Road" spoke in a recent interview about the consequences of many years of performing stunts in films. Tom Hardy, who is famous for not sparing himself on sets, has suffered a number of injuries and traumas over the years because of this. "I've had two knee surgeries, I have a spinal hernia, I also have sciatica and plantar fasciitis," the 47-year-old actor lists.
Tom Hardy is one of the Hollywood actors who are not afraid of performances that require physical fitness and courage. The star of the Oscar-winning "Mad Max: Fury Road" and the film series "Venom" is known for his huge commitment to each production he takes part in. Although the particularly dangerous stunts are performed for him by stuntman Jacob Tomuri, as he himself admits in conversations with the press, he tries to act on his own in most fight or chase scenes.
- Falling out of a plane, skydiving, but also sequences shot underwater - I spent a lot of time attached to ropes, which was not easy - Hardy said in one of his previous interviews about his work on the 2018 film "Venom".
It turns out that the BAFTA winner's ambitious approach to on-screen appearances has cost him his health , as he revealed in an interview with Esquire magazine.
"I loved playing Eddie in 'Venom' and juggling chainsaws. Put me on a unicycle and throw anything at me! I was trying to force my body to work as hard as possible, " Hardy said.
The 47-year-old star is now suffering the painful consequences of his decisions in the form of injuries and traumas.
"I've had two knee surgeries, I have a herniated disc, I also have sciatica and plantar fasciitis. I also pulled a tendon in my hip. I keep asking myself: How did this happen and why? I feel like everything is falling apart for me. And unfortunately it won't get any better, " he confessed.
Still, Hardy isn't slowing down. He can currently be seen opposite Pierce Brosnan and Helen Mirren in the crime series "Gangster Zone," and last month , he debuted on Netflix in a new action thriller, "Chaos." The British actor plays a battered detective who embarks on a dangerous mission to rescue the mayor's kidnapped son, while having to confront the demons of his own past.
There's also a Mad Max sequel on the horizon , with Hardy set to return to the title role. While we haven't learned any new details about Mad Max: The Wasteland, the actor told The Hollywood Reporter in April that the project is still on the cards.
